That is relevant because you are not paying anywhere close to 50% of your income to taxes.
Again, you are not my accountant, you have no clue how much I make, how many deductions I do or don't have or how much my other miscellaneous taxes add up to........ so you are therefore clueless and talking out of the south end of your nothern facing body.

And if your accountant is telling you you owe that much in taxes, there is a good chance your accountant is lying to you and stealing from you.
I favor the "Fair Tax" the most (23% consumption tax above poverty level spending, including both sides of social security) - or - the ideas in "The Liberty Amendments" - federal taxing limit of 15% of income - with a balanced federal budget and federal spending limited of 17.5% of prior year's GDP. (pg 73)
LOL - I guess it's fun (or frustrating!) to dream about such things.
As long as you keep suggesting tax systems that take more from people than they get back from government, or give to people less than they pay in for, you're NEVER going to arrive at a scheme that people can agree is "fair".
well, my reality has little bearing on whether you believe in it or not. I am not santa or the easter bunny, so my life is independent of other peoples "beliefs".
To make my previous income, i was working quite a bit. I am pretty well set for accumulated wealth and assets and work, simply because i like my profession. With the increase in the obama taxes i saw no need to bust my ass to simply pay more taxes to fund people and programs which oppose my personal views.
What was my w-2 income in 2013? $890k. What was it in 2012? $1,150k. What will it be for 2014? I haven't decided yet- however, i will definately make it lower than 2013, i just need to decide how much. How can i do this? I determine my own schedule- i simply take more vacation. I am at a point in my life where time is more valuable than money.

Whatever Urban, I'm sure H&R Block and the IRS will be shocked when I tell them that you know so much more about what I should be paying than they do.
Oh yeah, can I give the IRS your real name as my accountant?
You know , just so you can back me up when I refuse to pay more in taxes than Urbanlife78 says I should? Lol

Yet you are only focused on the poor who need to keep more of their income to survive, while the ones making more than you pay much less in taxes than you do.

Hey, if you want to give the government that much of your income, more power to you. When I do my taxes it doesn't come out as much as you are saying it does.
