No wonder Barbadians and Brits hate that damned island.
Let us charge housing their scum ( because they don't want them back) and we charge them interest. Why can`t the Jamaicans be like other West Indies Islands. They act laid back part are far, far from the that....
The root of the problem was caused by Britain in the first place.

Who told the Brits to participate in the slave trade and turn an island into a damn plantation?

Jamaica is Britain's legacy...you reap what you sow.

Firstly, Britain abolished slavery,( 1840), ps. this is 2014!! and though this was a disgrace, I get the impression that Jamiacans cannot let go of the past and cannot move forward. It is one island I would not go to. I have heard so many times from Barbados, St Lucia and Antigua that they do not trust Jamacians and think they are all crooks! Jamacians are the most deluded race on earth and want to blame England for all their ills. I think Britain just about tolerates them and their squawking. You own your slice of paradise, no one else. Sort it out.

Why is it that Jamaicans have a very different reputation in the USA. There was even a comedy show skit about the "Heymon family", based on stereotypes of Jamaicans. The core of the joke was that the Heymon family were work obsessed and also obsessed with buying property.

I think that what you describe as Jamaicans are actually their UK born and raised kids who were DESTROYED by Britain based on how they were treated in the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Not true of Jamaicans in the USA! Indeed the average Jamaican household (immigrant born) earns about 85% of what the average white household (multi generational US born) makes!

I suggest that the UK atone for its sins and stop passing the buck on others.

BTW the person spearheading the reparations demand is a Barbadian professor, and he is supported by the GOVERNMENT of BARBADOS!

The whole documentations with names ,dates , locations exist in the British archives so there's no need to play, it like never happened or there is no way to solve the problem.

If the British want to do it, they can ,it should not be a problem at all.

Japanese and Israelis have been compensated , why not the blacks or the descendants of slaves.
If they don't want to do it that's a different issue.

Why does that matter? I'm not British or Jamaican...It's not my business if Jamaica sues Britain for reparations. That's a matter between those two parties.
