So I hadnt noticed this, Cyprus is having a guarenteed minimum income go into effect in July. I can't find any details of the amount, but apparently its more of a guaranteed income if you're willing to work deal. Specifically-you cannot receive it if you refuse to work an offered job. Which has some mixed things behind it. I can see abuses of it on all sides.

"hmmm...I have some software engineering work done, lets search for unemployed engineers and offer them work.....at minimum wage" Muhahhaha.

Might make for some interesting times. The other side of course is-people working under the table.

Anyone else here familiar with the details of it all? I can find mentions of it in recent news articles, but nothing with any hard details.

I did...and just like the link, theres a lack of details. How much? How will they do the cutoff? Sudden or gradual? Etc etc.

Theres stuff about the CBO reviewing it, and approving of it, but no details.

Cypress is worse off than Greece ;so its just a shift to wider welfare based on no jobs and no growth likely.

Check the guaranteed minimum wage that the US Congress mandated on American Samoa and see how that turned out.

An interesting concept. I guess one will have to watch see how that works out for the budget of the Cyprus government.
