umm, the Kiev protest that this OP is talking about didnt happen till after the President had began till about 3 hours after the President talked about climate change.
You people are grasping at straws.
Par for the grasping class course... Oh well. On a side Putin note, I was looking forward to a USA/Russia Hockey final. Not to be, Russia is out. I guess we aren't going to be "putin" it to Putin.

This fight over the political direction for the Ukraine has been going on for months.

In addition, this conflict has been going on since the fall of the Soviet Union. It just has escalated recently.
Since the Ukraine is in such a strategic location for trade and commerce, it was inevitable that Russia would want an alliance with that country. The Ukraine is split on whether to join an alliance with Russia or the European Union, hence the conflict.
The right calls for less government but, for whatever reason, wants us to exert extreme government into the affairs of other countries that do not involve the US. What kind of foreign policy is that?

It sure has, but the OP is more than likely talking about the speech the President gave yesterday, if not, then his title is disingenuous as the President has covered hundreds of subjects in the past few months.
We can have an ally in the Ukraine as a new member of NATO, or a Russian ally.
Obama IGNORES the plight of free people trying to throw off the chains of tyrants, as he did in Iran. Obama is more concerned with nonsense like "global warming" than he is with the economic prosperity and liberty.
Obama won't risk angering Putin so he'll wait until Putin gives him his position. Kerry will also play dumb and not get involved until they find out what Putin wants them to say.
I think it is pretty clear, and has been for quite some time, what Putin's position is.
