His speaking on Global Warming is a joke but I would rather that he speak on that than get us involved with Kiev.

I seem to recall the USSR managed to dissolve itself, nation by nation, without US involvement.

Really, I thought President Reagan told them to take down the wall...

USSR went under for a whole host of reasons, but US policy had a hand. Causing the USSR in an expensive arms race cost us but help break the USSR.

Par for the grasping class course... Oh well. On a side Putin note, I was looking forward to a USA/Russia Hockey final. Not to be, Russia is out. I guess we aren't going to be "putin" it to Putin.

This fight over the political direction for the Ukraine has been going on for months.

You keep telling yourself that. Oh yeah, there was no "Wall" speech by Reagan, and no statue of him in downtown Warsaw either.

In addition, this conflict has been going on since the fall of the Soviet Union. It just has escalated recently.

Since the Ukraine is in such a strategic location for trade and commerce, it was inevitable that Russia would want an alliance with that country. The Ukraine is split on whether to join an alliance with Russia or the European Union, hence the conflict.

The right calls for less government but, for whatever reason, wants us to exert extreme government into the affairs of other countries that do not involve the US. What kind of foreign policy is that?

It sure has, but the OP is more than likely talking about the speech the President gave yesterday, if not, then his title is disingenuous as the President has covered hundreds of subjects in the past few months.

Isn't that up to the people of Ukraine?

I think it is pretty clear, and has been for quite some time, what Putin's position is.
