Well, since you own, you must be afraid of something....or you are an idiot and calling yourself out...

first dont discount the 30-30, especially the lever action model as they are reliable shooters, and they are quite accurate out to 300 yards. if you need longer range than that, then a .308 is certainly an excellent weapon for the longer ranges.

you presume that because i own firearms, that i am somehow scared of something, not sure what you think i am supposed to be scared of in your mind though. but you are far from the truth. i own firearms for a two reasons;

1: i like shooting them, and i am pretty good at it

2: i like being able to defend my friends and family if the time should come

i have always adhered to the notion that it is always better to have a tool and not need it, than to need a tool and not have it.
This has morphed into a general discussion on firearms whereas it should have been limited hanguns/pistols. The proliferation of firearms causing concern for myself are those that can be readily concealed and carried by all and sundrie.

Long guns don't lend themselves to being concealed upon one's person to be dragged out and shoot someone when you're losing a verbal argument or dislike the chosen music of the guy sitting at the lights next to you.

I do not know why you would be against someone trying to protect themselves and their family from harm.

I've NEVER said I'm against gun ownership. I'm just saying that the way it is now, any idiot can go buy a handgun and get a permit for it except for felons.

Some of the people I know that have guns? I would much rather have felons have them.

That's the trouble with civil rights. Pretty much any idiot can exercise them.

Outgrown does not mean "sold" or gotten rid of them....

Because they have "outgrown" them and feel that everyone else should follow in their footsteps...

So you don't think that some idiot with a gun violates the civil rights of everyone around him?

What civil rights are being violated by an idiot owning a gun?
