Yes, you guessed it. Michael Mann and his cohorts. They will do anything to "hide the decline" and prevent anyone but their lemmings from seeing their data. Even threatening violence and lawsuits. That's what happens when their government grants get threatened.
You really should read this slide show. It's not only informative, it's also amusing how the AGW alarmists are afraid that the truth will be exposed.

but he succumbed to her almost pleading with him to tone it down as it might affect her proposals in the future!

That's the problem with global warming "scientists"; they aren't scientists. Science is about creating a hypothesis and setting out to support it or not support it. These people have an ideology that they are setting out to prove.

I think it's far less "ideology" than "keeping the money flowing".
Yes, some of them are ideologues and search for things to support what they want to believe. But I believe most of them are far more concerned with keeping the money flowing and not being disgraced by having the extent they have been dishonest revealed.
