Except that older blacks will suspect that Remee is a light skinned black who is "passing." It's still visible.
I'll give you that. Tho attitudes are changing since more and more "quadroons" are self "ID'ing" as "white" in 2014 especially since many of them ain't accepted by many dark skin "real" Black people.
I'd break it down by sex and age here. More and more Millineal Black ladies are talking proper, straightening their hair and so on to "fit in" and, it seems, to catch a white dude as a husband since way too many Black dudes DON'T take care of business.
Bullsh t. Most black women of all ages are fairly vocal about the fact that they have little to no attraction to white men and easily prefer black men.

I live in Bullhead City and MOST Black ladies under about 30 are with anglo white dudes. Tho Black people are pretty rare judging by who shops here.

Bullhead City, AZ:
85.57% White
1.01% Black
...and thus the reasons behind your observation are explained. Now go test your theory in cities where black people actually live (Atlanta, DC, Chicago, New York, Houston, etc.)
Meh..black folks have insecurities like like everyone else.
This is a white world and that world exalts the Caucasian/white beauty standard.
Doesn't bother me..just the way it is.
When some guy gushes about how some girl "has blonde hair and blue eyes"...I always laugh because I don't get what that's supposed to mean. When I lived in Europe, women in the South of the continent were FAR .hotter than the ones up north.
But here, I guess those traits make you automatically a hottie Lol..not..
I concur with what you're saying. Growing up Mexican-American, I'm used to hearing comments like, "Oh her (fill in the blank: baby, boyfriend) has blue eyes" (light skinned mex-american huerito). "She/he is so pretty (usually dog whistle for "light skinned"). The light skin obsession dominates our community just like it does the black community. My mother is 70 and was a very beautiful, petite medium complexioned woman and girl. Back in the 50s, her own mother (my grandmother) used to introduce my mother's brother as "mi blanco" (the white one) with pride/jestfulness. My mother received no such introductions. My mother didn't like it and told my grandmother so. Then, there are the Mexican-Americans who seem to boast when they have a white non-Hispanic ancestor up the family tree. My great-grandfather was Irish (who I don't think were so high and mighty back back then in the 1800s), but you'll never hear me boasting about it, much less bring it up in conversation. Bottom line is that being white or at "as close as you can get to white" is still an easier life. So, most of these stars are just trying to stay relevant by being "mainstream white".

Black people are diverse and come in all shades. Dark skin is not the "real" black. Just like being blonde, pale, and blue eyed is not considered the "real" white.

Most black men that I see and know are with women who are Nia Long or Kerry Washington's skin tone.
Some are married to dark skin tone women and light skin tones as well, though. But I don't know of any blacks "obsessed" with light skinned.
First of all it does not cover your whole skin, only in spots and blotches. Secondly he could have easily had those areas darken with make up like many others who also suffer from it. Finally, he removed all facial aspects of his "blackness. Nose and lip thinning, changed his hair and even had a cleft put in his chin. I listen to some of his speeches and he does realized that he was black, but he acted like he was shamed of his appearance. Come to think of it I think that all of them except for Tito had some sort of facial alteration done to their faces.
White people have surgery as well.
And when vitiligo advances, you do have to get rid of the color to make it even. I know someone who did the same thing.
I don't know how many people here remember Curtiss Mayfield's "Choice of Colors."
If before being born we were shown the US as it is and given a choice of being born either black or white into it, who would honestly choose to be black?
I think people believe black is beautiful and would want to be black, just minus the stupid racism from whites.
