True, but that doesn't explain the mutilated nose and lips, the replaced hair and the obsession with artificially creating children without a hint of Negroid phenotype.

this is bs. the tanning industry is a multi billion dollar industry. white women routinely put themselves at risk to become darker. the ideal skin color is a light brown mocha type, not your average white persons color.

white females also spend billions on lip injections and butt implants.

Lips? He didn't have surgery on his lips. Who told you that?

We are more American IMO than any other group and our modes of presenting ourselves are emulated across the globe some good and some bad, but either way, people copy us more than we copy them.

Exactly. And this contribution is what has given the USA its "cool" image. Its not that the USA is seen as the symbol of democracy, as indeed much of the rest of the advanced world laughs at our dysfunctional politics. Its not that it is seen as offering the best opportunities. Canada and Australia are seen in a similar light, with added advantages of better access to healthcare, and retirement income.

Its that the USA is cool, and defines modernity. So add this style plus Apple, Microsoft, Silicon Valley and Silicon Alley for defining why the world wants to be American.

The point is that many groups have contributed into making the USA what it is, and black Americans are clearly among those. After all who wants to be Canadian, Australian or German, or even British.

now slightly off topic and regarding the pics of michael jackson and sammy sosa that is something else mainly psychological

in case you are white and in a bubble, the black community has always even till this day have this "light skin vs. dark skin" syndrome and i dont see it going away any time soon

there are many black people that HATE other blacks with dark skin, dark skin blacks are treated worst by their own family and amongst other blacks. dark skin blacks are called every name in the book from early childhood and it fukks up their self esteem (specifically dark skin black women)

dark skin black women because of this self esteem issue do try to seek out a Euro look hence all the weave...bleach blonde wigs and other rediculousness

in addition they tend to be very permiscuous and focus on their ASSets in order to feel better about themselves

i have to always bring this up in a "black people" thread because alot of people are in a bubble and arent aware of this information and CD might be their only opportunity to "learn" lol

The reality is that mid toned and light skinned blacks have traditionally had more access to upward mobility than did dark blacks, especially the most African featured. So many associate this darkest group with poverty and failure. Dig deep into many multi generational black middle class families, and you will see people whose ancestors were either freedmen (during the slavery era), or house and skilled slaves.

Its really only since the post WWII period that the descendants of field slaves began to move up. And indeed the poorest blacks are almost exclusively descended from field slaves, who never moved up, and who are arguably the most traumatized by slavery and Jimj Crow to the point where certain dysfunctions have now become "culture".

Blacks prefer to be mid toned.......still "authentically" black, but not linked to the image of poverty.

I am not sure if this is any different from white females who have very dark hair (especially if black), or very tight curly hair. That is less desired because it is seen as not mainstream, too tied to an "ethnic" past, which some wish to escape. The WASP pretty much defines the white "idea", and those who arent in this group, aspire to look as if they are. And if you doubt, examine mating habits of many very swarthy looking Italian Americans and others. Often hysterically trying to avoid being classed as Hispanic, or Arab.

Bottom line is that people attempt to achieve the image of the most successful within their group.

The black "ideal" will be a midtoned person who looks like Denzil Washington, and please don't deny the mass hysteria that occurred among black women in his heyday. I have never heard the same reaction for light skinned black men like Mario Van Peeples.

The bulk of the females on black magazine covers are mid toned, like Kerry Washington, and Vivica Fox. Magazines print covers to attract attention, so this indicates what blacks like, and indeed even the black "girlie" magazines feature the same type, filled with "bootielicious" mid toned females. The Jennifer Beals types dont sell.

I get so mad when people don't like themselves. Accept your looks for what they are and live your life.

I personally don't like when White females hit the tanning booth or have plastic surgery or try to enhance their lips. Be yourself.

I've heard of Asians having eye work done and I think that is the dumbest thing I've heard of.

I don't like to see Black women with Blond hair but it doesn't bug me as much.

I am black and we have a blond gene in our family. I have about 6 cousins with naturally blond hair, one guy and 5 girls. Similar to this:

A couple of my great grandparents had blond hair as well. Most American black people have about 20% European ancestry.

One of my cousins who is blond like the pic above is actually half Nigerian!! So we were surprised when he was born with the blond hair as his dad is a very black African man but he must have that recessive gene in his background as well. Odd, but he looks just like his dad but lighter like the child in the pic and he has blonde hair, they are light/dark twins almost.
