I think it does represent a shift. And if you'll notice, those white men are more than likely with dark-skinned black women, not the light-skinned women one might initially expect.
Time and time again, we see way too many Black celebrities and regular folks relaxing their hair, making it blonde, getting nose surgery and even waist/hip reductions. It just seems so obvious that many are changing their appearances to look "White".
To quote the great Malcolm X they have something known as white's disease...
Beyonce doesn't want to be white. She's just smart. She crafted this image she has so that she can appeal to the white mainstream. The blonde hair, L'Oreal commercials, contouring makeup, and the heavily pop influenced songs and performances makes her more universal.

I'm by no means NOI, but I do think that the assassination of Malcolm X was a great tragedy for combating the problems in the urban black community.
The strategy of the Civil Rights movement was founded on racism as it existed in the south, which was very specific in its effects, both negative and positive. Martin Luther King was the target of discrimination and always under the death threat of a lynch mob from the day he was born, yet he had a relatively genteel upbringing that was nearly impossible for a kid born at the same time in the urban ghetto.
A black man in the south knew precisely what kept him from going farther in life, and that it was nothing internal, but external. A black man in the north might not have that realization.
Malcolm X knew the mindset produced by the ghetto in a way that Martin Luther King and other current Civil Rights leaders--nearly all Southern-born--never could have. I think he was correct (and, in a way, NOI was correct) that blacks in the north needed a period of separated self-reliance that had been forced upon blacks in the south. His assassination was a tragedy.
That is a valid point. BTW, I noted the blog showed this picture without comment:
Many people might recognize the top middle image as Casper Van Diem playing the lead character of "Juan Rico" from the SF movie "Starship Troopers."
But many people don't realize that the character had been whitewashed. In the very popular and controversial book (that has never been out of print since 1959), Juan Rico is Filipino.
Of course, that's not the only thing the movie got horribly wrong compared to the book.

yes, but different non white cultures react differently to white supremacy, so saying that, because skin bleaching is popular in foreign countries, not just African countries, but Asian countries as well, it could be popular here is wrong. most black americans would rather die than admit to skin bleaching. it is considered shameful to us, but in some African countries celebrities openly sell and endorse skin bleaching products.
