Besides, a person is not born a man or a woman - one cannot be referred to in such terms until at least the onset of puberty - and socially not until they are in their mid to late teens.
You didn't get your penis(assuming there) until puberty? I know I had mine way before puberty, even have pictures.

WHERE do you get these ideas? It is no wonder you are so confused.

I have an old friend from the 90's whose son was very athletic, but was too physically small to be able to compete against boys his age in baseball. He was allowed to play on a girl's team for 2 years.

A growth spurt when he was 13 ended it. He was still small, but big enough to be competitive finally, and eventually became a high school varsity shortstop. His speed and reflexes made up for his shortness. Playing with the girls was hard for him, because he got a lot of catcalls, but the experience paid off well later on.

His sister was so little she had to use a booster seat to see out of their car until she was 10. She never grew as much as her brother, and is now only 5' as an adult. He's now about 5'7".

This is the story I referred to earlier. This is a more in depth report. Why is the state in which it happened significant? Do you really think California is the only place this could happen? It is more appropriate to note the country in which these things are happening. I keep my ear to the ground as much or more than most P&OC regulars. If 6'6" formerly male players wanted to play on a women's Olympic basketball team there would be international fireworks. A double amputee Olympic runner was allowed to compete with 'normal' runners only because he was mid-pack caliber and officials were assured that the prosthetics represented the state of the art 15 years ago. Why, I wonder could not the very best double amputee talent available, competing on prosthetic technology equal to some of the hyper-engineered equipment other competitors bring to international competition be used?

Order my tinfoil hat, size XXL but I don't think there is much doubt in some circles that Oscar's stunning meltdown and unfolding destruction is anything less than a warning to those who were preparing to unleash better equipped versions of Oscar upon an unsuspecting Track and Field world. If you are in the business of manufacturing illicit narcotics would you make the legalization of crystal meth the first order of business or might you lobby hard for the legalization of Mary Jane? Hmmm. Those who can't see past the feel good, one off, human interest story of the o.p. are IMO guilty of pathological naiveté. Not all social strictures are bad. Some are in place to support valid prejudices. There have been so many abuses of social trust due to racism, sexism and xenophobia that it gets hard to see when it really is time to stop and say... really? Should we allow this?

I really tried yesterday to find a single you-tube video that shows a male of any age, skewering and pinning a female opponent in a sanctioned mixed wrestling event. I couldn't even find a porn wrestling video that showed a victorious male in it. That there are women who can compete in direct physical competition with some men is not at all the question. That the boy in the o.p. might have no more athletic ability than the girls he might play with or against is not the question. Some things you just don't allow because once you allow it for one person of good intentions and sincere need you have to allow it for all the people who see an opportunity to exploit a situation for personal gain or glory. Simple, really...

Soon it will be outlawed to define a human being as male or female. The Orwellian trend leads toward human beings having no sex and we will all be just an IT>

That's interesting. Maybe when people get pulled over for drunk driving they should just tell the officer to send them on their way because they haven't harmed anyone. It shouldn't be against the law for that specific person to drive drunk because they haven't harmed anyone. I love liberal "logic".

It is really quite simple.
That's fine if you think with said body parts...

Complicated post, but I think I agree in principle.

Look, I support the right of these people to live their life as they wish and do not think they should be subject to unwarranted discrimination. If they are applying to a job as an accountant or something and the boss is just bigoted, tough I think they should be able to sue...there is no valid, relevant basis for discrimination when we are talking about most jobs or housing or such basic things.

However, organized sport is a different matter. No matter how many hormones or surgeries she has, she will always have the skeletal structure of a male which is an unfair advantage. Differences in male and female elbow structure affect how they throw, for example. In this case, the discrimination does have a relevant reason.

It's really as simple as that.
The problem is case by case basis is probably not allowed.

Harrier, I love ya man, you're one of my favorite posters. On this one I must disagree with you. You take a guy as effeminate as obama or this guy, playing against girls, the girls have the advantage.
Picture what obama was like at fifteen and you will see a little fairy princess who will never attain the athletic abilities of a good woman. Even if forced to shower together, which wouldn't happen, there is no interest in the female form. O could be standing in a shower full of pin-up girls and he would have eyes and thoughts only for Reggie...
Nothing to worry about..
