Never. Not in this lifetime. The Bible Belters will fight it to the death.
They don't care about revenue. They'd rather build 100 more prisons than to legalize it.
You don't get it detroiter. I know folks hail how wonderful it all is but how many are making trips over there on the weekends and will they do that forever? Hell no especially if others legalize it. It's new the "charm" will wear off too. Hell the lottery was gonna save the states, then gambling, now weed? LOL. "Belters" thought casino's would save the day at one time. The only thing that will save anybody is if the crooks sitting at the state house stop throwing all that new revenue away and they gotta get re elected so of course they will throw it away. More false hope but hey at least it's hope. I remember Obama spoke of hope..........now he's staggering around Aspen wondering where his ski's are.
Sure all that crap brings in more "revenue" but when you continue to spend more than it brings in and folks are spending their money on weed and gambling and lotto instead of at local business what ends up happening?
So 5 million people or whatever live there produced 184 million in taxes on pot in just a couple months? Wow, what a bunch of stoners!
You really think no "outsiders" came in? Spring break coming up........They best get stocked up.......and where does this "legal" weed even come from? Is that why this "El Chapo" the chapstick drug cartel leader was just taken down? Who friggen really knows. Mel Gibson will be flying it in soon.
We're Americans...it's mandatory that we do things ass backwards.
That means that we're better off keeping Mary Jane illegal, locking people up, and spending even MORE money on new prison building. Come on...get with it. This country is about law and order.
Besides, if they're allowed to smoke weed, they might actually have FUN. And that's reason enough to keep it illegal.
Besides, I love spending my tax money on more cops to chase these drug kingpins that sell and smoke weed.
We're Americans...that's how we roll baby.
What is your excuse for why the feds let Colorado and Washington legalize marijuana.
The government makes a lot of money on tobacco taxes also -- why not encourage cigarette smoking more so the government can get more easy money?
I don't think anyone is encouraging anyone to use pot. What is clear though is people will use it. The only choice we have as a nation is whether accept and tax it, or continue spending billions trying to change the tide.
They made more than they expected. Could this be a new viable income stream for all states? I believe so. The money you will save on incarceration PLUS the tax revenue could be a boost to the economy.
Did it take from other revenue sources? Did someone pass up on eating out or buying something in order to smoke a joint?
Of course they did. That is the point. It takes money from other places like local business. Are taxes higher on the weed than say on a steak dinner? I really don't know myself as I haven't really read a lot about it just wondering. Servers lose their tips, restraunt loses business, I guess they can drown their sorrows in a blunt?

I guess it just doesn't click in your head!!! those people just didn't start smoking weed in the last few weeks, they been smoking it for a long time buying it from a underground market.. at least with legal weed the states can make some revenue from a plant that 40 to 50 million people partake in on a regular basis..
Until the government keeps raising taxes then guess where these folks will go back to where it is cheaper? Oh know that doesn't even click in your head does it. Just unreal.
Also how do you know who has been smoking it for a long time? Lot of folks may have just gone and tried it for the first time? Hey you can make revenue from taxing co2 also it appears. You see how that idiocy works?
