Yes , depends on the store and if they have a tip Jar. I always put all my change in the jar, not a lot , but better for them than me.

They cry when the mention of raising minimum wage is spoken and say people are paid based on market conditions and then turn around and support illegal immigration and cheap labor abroad to keep the wages down.

These type of people are the worst humanity has to offer. There is nothing to debate or discuss with these types of people.

Maybe , but they fit right in with the conservatives.

These people believe that everyone should be subject to market conditions but themselves where they make the markets to bend to their whims.
Maybe , but they fit right in with the conservatives, who always want it there way or the highway. Most are not worthy to hold office !

How about Best Buys, Office Depot, Staples? Do you think they sell anything made in America?

Where was the computer you used to post with made?

Does Wal-Mart sell some cheap junk? Of course. They ALSO sell some of the SAME product ALL the other stores sell.

Do they ONLY sell cheap junk from China? NO. I posted earlier a list of over 500 items that Wal-Mart sells that are made in America.

I find it amusing how many on here "KNOW" all about Wal-Mart then claim they wouldn't step foot in the door.

Facts mean nothing, "I believe" takes president.

While this is a trend . especially in corporate-owned restaurants, not all restaurants pool tips. Those that do not, expect their wait staff to " tip out" to the behind the scenes workers. Some restaurants compute the owed " tip- out" based on the sum of all checks written and do so regardless if the wait person was tipped or stiffed.

We digress. This thread is about Walmart.

"Made in America" provides no certainty the product is not cheap junk.

Most of the cheap junk made elsewhere is made to the specifications of the U.S. merchandiser/brand name.

U.S. merchandisers learned a long time ago that when stuff is made to last, people don't need to replace it, which is not good for business. They also know, U.S. consumers tend to shop by price/quantity, more so than quality.

In almost all cases, the items I have bought made in the US and Canada are far superior to what comes out of China.( like kind ). When you are talking about items not available anywhere but made in China , you have no comparison. Remember back in the days when anything made in Japan was mostly junk or poor copies of American made products ? My how that has changed. Today almost all the Machinery sold in the US , to make products made in the US come from Japan. On the other hand I have bought my fair share of products directly from China ..good quality and fair pricing. Mostly on eBay and a few other web sites.Today if you can get together enough people that wants the same product( 20 foot containers worth ) that so far no one in the US will make you can buy directly from the MFG in China. This retail /wholesale market is growing, and will get much bigger as China throws out all the Wallmarts who only want cheap stuff and encourage child labor, sweat shops, poor working conditions ( the Chinese Gov. hands are not clean ether, but they are always the final word ) However .Its not China Government that started this , its companies like Wallmart coming in and actually creating the problems in order to get all the crap , shipped many thousands of miles , by all modes of transportation , just so it can be put on the shelf, price slashed special by a stupid smiley face.

Actually, there has been lots of evidence that Wal-Mart puts the pinch on their suppliers to lower costs and change their product to suit Wal-Mart's needs.

Is there anything made in America any longer? Unions have forced virtually all manufacturing out of America. If I want a quality product, I most certainly will not be buying American.

As I demonstrated above, that is a lie.

Anyone who buys Wal-Mart's Ol' Roy brand of dog food should be charged with animal abuse.

I do not give a damn what they sell, or who makes it. Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart always sell crap.

I agree. If I want quality electronics, I buy Sony or Toshiba. The ICs in my computer are made in Japan, China, Taiwan and Malaysia, and assembled in Mexico. If I want a quality chainsaw, I buy Stihl. Toyota, Honda, and Subaru make better vehicles than Ford, Chevy, or Government Motors. The list goes on. When it comes to manufacturing these days the US truly sucks, and we have unions to thank for that.

So. Do they make a Chinese knockoff American beer? Because WM sells the exact same swill the Union shops do for about 30-40 % less. That's just one example. I've gotten the exact same items at WM cheaper than anyplace else on the net or in local stores. TVs, camping gear, bike parts, gardening supplies, it's endless.
