Oh know don't read this thread liberals............green always works..........except in Spain, or Germany or Denmark..........on and on.........the US. But they just didn't do it the right way you say? That is what you always say...........just like communism. Millions died yet you still dream. Amazing.......Brazil I remember many saying why aren't we doing what Brazil is to save the world. Gdam lunatics.

"Domestic consumption of liquid ethanol this year has been 26% lower than for the same period in 2008. Forty-one of the country’s roughly 400 sugar-cane ethanol plants have closed over that time. The price of pure ethanol at the pump is so high that in most states it is cheaper to fill up flexible-fuel cars with petrol blends that contain about 20% ethanol. The shift back to fossil fuels, combined with rapid growth in the number of cars on the roads (see ‘Fuelling Brazil’s transport boom’), has worsened city smog and caused emissions in the transport sector to spike at about 170 million tonnes of CO2 in 2011, up from less than 140 million tonnes in 2008. “We are increasing the world’s GDP: we are buying more oil and spending more on pollution-related health care,” jokes Ildo Sauer, who studies energy policy at the University of São Paulo and is a former director of the state oil giant Petrobras."

Here is the kicker...........like good little progs they won't give up............if sugar cane won't work then something else has to.

"Now, Brazil hopes to tap into a new biofuel source: second-generation ethanol, produced from the tough cellulose in plant stalks. Cellulose is difficult to break down and ferment, but several facilities in the United States are on the verge of making commercial cellulosic ethanol — for example, by using specialist enzymes to break down the long-chain cellulose molecules — and Brazil doesn’t want to be left behind."

Difficult to break down and ferment (meaning expensive) but that won't stop these savers of the planet especially if they are getting paid to create nonsense.

and just what is the "nonsense" in moving to renewable, environmentally positive fuels? What is behind this knee-jerk right wing opposition to anything that is environmentally responsible? Do you like to breathe polluted air and drink polluted water or what?

And you can bet that this process won't be driven by 'Green' energy. These people can't get out of their own way.

Actually, CO2 is plant fertilizer!
Up to a point (which we have not reached yet), the more CO2 in the air, the better the crop yields will be, and the more food for us.
IF we can get enough water to the crop producing areas to make the stuff grow, that is.

Well we use our "food" as fuel.........not sure the percentage.......but if this push to legalize weed keeps going we will see folks using fields to grow ganja instead of food too. How many will starve because of this? How much more expensive will actual food get? I guess liberals don't really care.

He's also opposed to reusable shopping bags.
When it was pointed out that all that plastic kills marine life, his response was "If whales are stupid enough to eat plastic, they deserve to die."
That's the type of mentality we're dealing with here.
