My Grandfather trained in a fake French city surrounded by trenches in World War One.

It probably wasn't as realistic as the new one, though. The U.S. didn't have much time to prepare back then.

...those buildings suggest a very intense focus on asymmetrical warfare.

Those buildings are where you'd be more likely find hostage situations. Accordingly, I'd be inclined to believe that the training facility will be used by select units only, like Delta, Special Forces, Rangers, Military Police and Combat Engineers. Perhaps FBI special units, maybe even in city or county SWAT units.

Not really anything unusual here. I went through the Northern Ireland Training Centre back in the early 1980s with a BAOR unit.

This topic has taken on a strange trajectory in gun forums and various right-leaning sites. Funny because so many of those types of posters served in the military. You'd think they'd remember training on MOUT sites. We two different sites on Ft. carson when I was there from 98-01. I bet they have much more now.

US Army has been doing this type of Shoot-house / Shoot City training for years, look what the Special Force does in their training during Robin Sage (rites of passage), and then you take into account the (Combat Applications Group) tier 1 Delta, you'll know why their the best of the best, best Soldiers, best equipment, best weapons, best training in the world. High speed-low drag.
