Note my wording. I didn't say whether the USA is becoming a fascist nation or not; I am asking whether the USA SHOULD become a fascist nation or not. To be clear on what I am implying here, let me give you the dictionary definition of Fascism (Webster's American College Dictionary):

fascism, n 1. (sometimes capitalized) a totalitarian governmental system led by a dictator and and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism, militarism, and often racism. 2. (sometimes capitalized) the philosophy, principles or methods of fascism. 3. (capitalized) a movement towards or embodying fascism, esp. the one established by Mussolini in Italy 1922 - 1943.

Given the demeanor of about 80 - 90% of Americans, is this what you truely want? I don't but it seems this same 80 - 90% of Americans has this demeanor irregardless of whatever political flunky they follow. I certainly don't want fascism but my opinion is irrelevant. The weird thing about fascism is that it can take a form very appealing to people, but underneath that pretty skin is a rotting corpse. Remember that!

It's not that American's want fascism, it's that wingnuts believe anything that happens that they don't like is somehow facist/Communist/Socialist/Conspiracy by "them." You are looking the wrong direction. Just a clue, if it is the worlds opinion versus a crazy person (even a small group)...I would choose the worlds opinion.

Agreed. We are neither socialist (gov't ownership of the means of production) nor capitalist (private ownership of the means of production). The best term to describe our system is 'fascist,' which entails private ownership with heavy gov't oversight and regulation. That describes our system.

It already is. Govt bailouts for Wall St=Corporate fascism/Socialism.

Now with the police state and surveillance drones and DHS with unlimited funding. Privatized prisons (corporate for profits)

NSA spying 24/7. Hitler couldn't have planned it better.

Your definition is absurd.

Fascism is fascism because it is an imposed economic system where production is privately owned, but controlled by the state.

All those other things... Totalitarianism, racism, etc... Exist independent of (and are not integral to) fascism.

Your definition is historically ignorant. Fascism was above all a political ideology, not an economic one.

Finally somebody got it right. The essence of fascism is big business and big government in bed together. That's precisely what we have in the US in 2014.
