For example, the government with the stupid CFTC is making complicated for US traders to invest. On their minds, along with statists, it's illegal to trade in America. Sometimes the US government will shut down a broker.

Do you think there's too many unnecessary laws and regulations in this so-called free country?

Of course, just look at the tax code or Obamacare and some how try and justify having that many laws. That doesn't even account for all the regulations put into place by appointees, not even elected officials that rule out lives. We are anything but free in this country. We are nothing but serfs to the ruling class (the government).

This a question that should be answered with a universal YES. There's no legitimate reason to believe we need more laws.

Guess that's why people get for supporting big government, believing their the answer to everything.

Of course we need new laws, the world gets more complicated and there is a reason to regulate the aspects of our lives that were nonexistent 50 years ago. What do you propose instead? Total anarchy where everybody does what they please, regardless of how it affects the rest of population?
Legislation isn't exclusive to writing laws, but also removing antiquated, overlapping, and poor laws. The country averages over 1400 new laws each year, and it's suffocating us.

It's already here. The USFS has issued the first forest offsets already.

Steinberg is a lame duck, so naturally he's pushing for even more Cap and Trade here in Cali.

Some states have a LOT more nanny state laws in others, and some counties especially so. In the DC area, even a little 3 foot hotel pool is required to have a lifeguard which is VERY annoying for tourists who pay for a hotel with a pool thinking it will be open all day. Some places have a tax on plastic shopping bags. Some states say you can't warm up your car in the winter when you're not inside it. I don't know the logic behind this law. I also think many regulations passed by liberals and Democrats have helped push business out of the US and out of certain states and have harmed economies.

The Dodd-Frank Act is another example of too many regulations that's scaring businesses and self-employed people away.

Unlike some, I do believe there should be some regulations. But it isn't hard to find ridiculous laws on the books. Some may have made sense years ago but are now obsolete. No surprise: many were passed to help certain industries. I especially don't like the sugar tariff which has destroyed the candy industry in the U.S. Some tax laws (some?) are ridiculous. Why does the horse breeding industry get better depreciation writeoffs than any other? And why can convicted murderers write off student expenses but not drug offenders? However I don't see much hope for eliminating dumb laws. Anyone remember when the tax law were rewritten in 1986? They became anything but simpler.
