All you have to do is shift the focus from VT to Iowa and boom...Meth
Meth never really took off in most of Europe, and heroin was always seen as a grim drug used by headcases on council estates (the projects) and not a glamour drug. I suppose at least heroin addicts spend a lot of their time in a stupor oblivious to the world rather than being cranked up and wired out all the time like the Meth heads. Then again both often end up stealing to fund their addiction.
The articles that I posted about heroin use on Staten Island and Long Island were about whites, not blacks. Are you aware that heroin use amongst black teens is virtually non existent, while it has sky rocketed amongst white suburban teens. Just read the article, it contains all of the data.

Meth/Crank/speed whatever, is the nastiest drug ever created.
One more point of this article/op needs to be addressed. While I don't question white kids in VT fancying heroin at all, it needs to be pointed out how dishonest and loaded this article is. It is addressing street heroin. Anybody with a shred of logic will know that an opiate is an opiate is an opiate.
Black America has traded in bags of street dope for bottles of codeine. So, they've essentially just "rebranded" their heroin addiction, however, don't expect NYT to point this out. Also, MDMA/Molly/Ecstacy has found it's way into the hood with a rather warm reception.

Street heroin? Yes it is, for all intents and purposes, non-existent in the black community.
Codeine and Promethazine though? NOT SO MUCH
