Krugman used to be an economist, but his time at the NY Times has turned him into a garden variety sycophant propagandist for the DNC, except he still gets to retain his academic cred because nobody bothers to understand how pitiful his academic career has been since he became a thrall of the Democrat party.

His writing makes HuffPo nutbars look like scholars. Good for Princeton, bad for CUNY. But as others have said, CUNY is apparently going for "most freaking bizarre faculty in all of college history" status, so luring Krugman makes perfect sense. Another unhinged nutbag ideologue masquerading as a serious thinker.

Whatever. He's a punchline anymore, and in any economic discussion, you'll normally find his name in the following way:
Quote:
All economists not named Paul Krugman agree that...

Okay, maybe I'm missing something. I don't see anything wrong with anything he said in the video. He's a futurist, and that what he envisions for future civilization. He's a modern Buckminster Fuller.

Krugman was never an economist. His academic work is basically centered around trade. I agree though. He has become a hack for the DNC as of late.

While City University of New York's community colleges may be nothing to worry about, their four year colleges and graduate programs in many areas are *very* highly rated. Hunter College and Baruch University to name a few.

What hurt CUNY's senior colleges for a few decades were the affects of "open enrollment" and decline in academic standards in the name of diversity pushed by some demographics. However the previous chancellor and current holder of that office have made great strides in returning at least the four year colleges back to their glory.

If you look up the alumni of CUNY especially from the 1940's, through 1960's or so you'll find some *very* famous names from politics to business.

Krugman will be 62 when he finally does leave Princeton in 2015 after 15 years. He was previously at Yale, MIT, Stanford. Perhaps this is his last stop before retiring in a few years; maybe he has had his fill of the "prestigious" universities. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is his thinking even if he won't admit it. So he gets to move where he likes, home paid for, does some good work and is no doubt is paid well for it. From his point-of-view, whats not to like?
