In Bill de Blasio’s City Hall, it seems more and more, there is only a left wing.
The mayor, who advanced in politics by grass-roots organizing, has built a team filled with former activists — figures more accustomed to picketing administrations or taking potshots from the outside than working from within. His administration is heavily populated with appointees best known for the fights they have fought.
On Friday, Mr. de Blasio appointed Steven Banks, who is the attorney in chief of the Legal Aid Society and a longtime critic of city policies affecting low-income residents, as commissioner of the city’s Human Resources Administration. Mr. Banks recently praised the new mayor for transferring hundreds of children and their families from two homeless shelters cited for violations that made the facilities unfit and unsafe for children.
Mr. Banks has spent his career facing off with city government at public meetings and in the courts. But he is embraced in a de Blasio administration.
Its about doing some things for the outer Borough's. Thats why he won the election. Mayor Bloomburg did a great job repairing the damage from Rudy (financial), now it needs to be extended to the other Borough's of NYC.
Well we'll now get to see what these activists do now they they are in power.
It's one thing to debate and opine to the press about all the wrongs the local government does and quite another to finally be the one to execute the change.
DeBlasio didn't hide anything in his campaign. He was quite up front and open about his progressive agenda.
So none of this should be a surprise to the people of NYC who elected him into office.
Maybe the people of NYC want this. They elected him knowing full well his agenda.
So why should we care?

Seattle elected a socialist and NYC elected a Progressive.
Better to be informed about what the future may hold then to be ignorant of it and get surprised later on when policies come back to bite you.
Look around the world at what various policies have done over the long term.

As with the others he too will find out soon enough, NYC cannot print counterfeit money as the federal government can. Tax & spend it fast.
I suppose if it would've pleased the right wingers we could've always elected bloombergs puppet christine quinn or heck why not ask bloomberg to run again ! No I think we made the right choice here and hired someone that might actually have a bit of compassion for those who are not wealthy or who lives in manhattan. Where i'm at in staten island we routinely are ignored by the other boroughs and are basically at the mercy of nj as well since we share bridges with them we routinely get screwed from nj and from ny.
This clown is going to run the capital of the world into the ground.
