The information comes from Rev. Wright, who specifically stated that Trinity UCC's vision statement is based on Black Liberation Theology founded by Dr. James H. Cone, and from Dr. Cone's own words on Black Liberation Theology:

"all white men are responsible for white oppression"
Black theology and black power - James H. Cone - Google Books+

"The goal of black theology is the destruction of everything white, so that blacks can be liberated from alien gods."

"The free person in America is the one who does not tolerate whiteness but fights against it, knowing that it is the source of human misery."
A Black Theology of Liberation - James H. Cone - Google Books

"Most whites, some despite involvement in protests, do believe in "freedom in democracy," and they fight to make the ideals of the Constitution an empirical reality for all. It seems that they believe that, if we just work hard enough at it, this country can be what it ought to be. But it never dawns on these do-gooders that what is wrong with America is not its failure to make the Constitution a reality for all, but rather its belief that persons can affirm whiteness and humanity at the same time."

James Cone - Union Theological Seminary

Rev. Wright:
"The vision statement of Trinity United Church of Christ is based upon the systematized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. James Cone’s book, Black Power and Black Theology."

Thanks for the reference.

Just at a glance this liberation theology is a pile of horse mess. You can't blame all White men for racism.

Gotta do some reading today and see how much of this crap is embraced by the Church. I know people who attend trinity that in no way seem racist. They do seem like upstanding individuals who are success oriented. The UCC is a predominantly White denomination and they actually said some very nice things about trinity during the first election.

Interesting topic.

And yet Black Liberation Theology, founded by Dr. Cone and embraced by Trinity UCC, does.

Generally speaking, that is true. However, I doubt many UCC churches point to Black Liberation Theology for their vision statement, as does Obama's and Wright's Trinity UCC in Chicago.

Sorry, but I truly believe had Dunn been black and the four teens in the car white, Dunn would have been convicted of murder. if Zimmerman were black and had followed and initiated an altercation with a white kid, while carrying a loaded gun, he probably would have been convicted. Self defense laws appear to benefit whites, but not so much for blacks. A black woman in Jacksonville fired one warning shot into the wall while under attack from her 250-pound abusive husband (who she had a protective restraining order against) and was sentenced to 20 years. A black man in NY shot a white teen in the man's own suburban driveway after a carload of drunken white teens drove there to initiate an altercation with the man's son and was convicted of manslaughter. Hard to believe racism does not figure in to any of these judicial results.

Funny because in the Jim Crow days; Mr Zimmerman would've been called a "Black" dude over the "1 drop rule" crap.

I would have to agree, after Rev Wright specifically pointed to Dr. James H. Cone's Black Liberation Theology as the inspiration for Trinity's vision statement.

Obama's Black Liberation Theology church for 20+ years. He was married in that Black Liberation Theology church. He had both his daughters baptized in that Black Liberation Theology church.

I missed out on voting in the poll. But in 2014, I see that there is more racism aka negative thoughts against black people. However, imo it's due to their own actions. For example, at my job the blacks just aren't as productive as whites and Asians. Some of the Hispanics are almost as bad as the blacks. Of course, my workplace is not all workplaces, but actions do speak louder than words.

Every time there is a crime committed and reported in the news, other people do take note of what race the criminal is from. And the same goes when there is news of someone of merit.

Lastly, what I witness is that blacks talk about skin colour and race a lot more than other races. Two people got interviewed for a job and the black workers are talking about how a "black brother" was in line for that job. Other workers will just refer to the applicants by name. I can't see what goes on inside of other people, but what I hear is that blacks make no effort to be colour blind, but other races do try to be race neutral when they talk.

Otherwise, at my job in terms of hiring and promotions, there is no racism against blacks. We have a very diverse work environment. BTW I work on a college campus.

"the blacks" lol you all are too much sometimes.

sad you don't see it.

11pgs and counting...yet again.

it's "their own fault".

"the blacks are lazy".

smh

is it like impossible to think of black people as people that happen to be black in your guys' minds? can't i be considered as separate from my racial group...it's just skin lol. you could classify me in so many other ways.

so, race is what is significant then? are we deciding this for certain this time?

because i have some stuff i would like to say about "the whites" that i'm not looking to be banned again for. is that fair game?

Some Whites could be afraid of mentioning the race of the coworkers. Most of my White coworkers are not afraid to mention race otoh, they know that I won't think they are racists because of our relationship.

I personally don't know if Blacks talk about race more than Whites because I'm not White. I can't see if Blacks give more racially motivated crap to Whites than the other way around because I'm not White. I can only tell my experience and what others tell me.

I can tell that there is still a lot of racism coming from Whites that some Whites are in denial of because of the embarrassment from popular culture.

My intent? Do I point to Black Liberation Theology as the basis of any church's vision statement? NO. That was Rev. Wright, of Trinity UCC.

You represent what is wrong with conservative Whites.
Whites had nothing to do with it. White-hating racist TUCC is all on Rev. Wright who specifically names the source of TUCC's vision statement as Dr. Cone's Black Liberation Theology, Dr. James H Cone the founder of Black Liberation Theology, and Obama who embraced the racist ideology for 20+ years, got married in that racist church, and had his daughters baptized in that same racist church.

Honestly? How in the world can you defend such blatant White-hating racism?
