Actually, we take care of too much business instead of minding our own business.
Confront a bully over what? The Ukraine?
If we are seen as having a weak military, tell me...why is that?
Could it be that we invaded two nations in recent years and we've been completely ineffective in both of them? Couldn't pacify Iraq, and can't pacify Afghanistan.
So really, why should Putin be afraid of us?
These are your words:
You're implying that Reagan would've been so tough and scared Putin into reconsidering.
But what did Reagan do in Beirut?
Standing up to a bully has to be backed up by something.
You willing to go to war over the Ukraine? I'm not.
Showing some backbone and having some intestinal fortitude is what leaders do.
You are so enamored of the bike helmet and mom jeans wearing community organizer that you forget what a real man does in real men situations.
Clinton signed the defense treaty. Now America has to back up its word or put on a metaphorical sundress.
ALL THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED YES ARE DISGUSTING PIECES OF ... !!!!!!!!!
Totally insane.. (All Obama Supporters I assume ... YOU CANT EVEN SEE WHAT HE IS DOING TO OUR COUNTRY!!)
Your assumption would be incorrect. From the comments those who want intervention think Obama is a pu**y and they want a strong military that the world will fear.
Except that; it was a coup, and the Ukrainian parliament violated the constitution by stripping Yanukovich of power, so technically, Yanukovich is still the legitimate president of Ukraine, and has requested assistance for his country. This is sort of the issue that everyone has forgotten, or is obtuse to because it intervenes with their political views.
I thought the US was all for democracy and freedom, yet supports people to overthrow an elected president? The election was declared fair by international observers. If Yanukovich was conducting illegal actions, then they should have taken the legal steps to remove him from power, as happens with civilized countries.
The US invaded Haiti to restore Aristide after a coup, and the US intervened in Libya, the Balkans, and invaded Grenada to "protect Americans". Russia's entering Ukraine is just as legitimate, if not more, than many of the US's excursions.
