Perfect encapsulation of the inability of conservatives to think critically. Merkel said Putin is out of touch. Well, gee, I wonder why that is. Could it be that Putin maintains a facade of power and control by appearing crazy and unpredictable? Think about it. If he told Merkel exactly what he was doing, and why, we may no longer be concerned about him, or "respect" him like he thinks we should.

I don't even want to think about it.
Don't know about Putin, but America will certainly applaud and possibly throw in a few bucks, if Canadians promise to keep it.

It also amuses me that Putin portraits himself as mediator between Syria, Iran and the west. He expressed deep concern about world peace and a possible bloodshed.
Love Vladimir!
(I really wish lame folks like Obama and these EU just shut up when they have nothing to do or say. At least they'll look better)
I can tell. You are one of the few pro-Russia / anti-US posters we have here.

I don't think so. Former CIA director Robert Gates bascially says that Putin has Obama by the balls.

"He's put himself in a position where we need him in terms of the Syrian chemical (weapons) deal. We need him in terms of the Iranian nuclear program," Gates, who served as defense secretary from 2006 to 2011, said in a telephone interview with Reuters.
"We need the Russians in terms of getting our (military) equipment out of Afghanistan."

"Indeed, the European Union is not expected to match the United States in threatening sanctions against Russia when its foreign ministers meet to discuss Ukraine on Monday, instead pushing for mediation between Moscow and Kiev, officials say."

"Russia is the EU's most important trading partner after the United States and China, with 123 billion euros ($170 billion) of goods exported there in 2012. It is also the EU's most important single supplier of energy products, accounting for more than a quarter of all EU consumption of oil and gas."

Obama must carefully calibrate Russia response, rhetoric: Gates

Because American voters are ill informed, they would rather vote for a smooth talking idiot than for someone more qualified.

This is not a duel between Putin and Obama, this is about Putin and Ukraine, and how the rest of the world reacts to it. US is a part of the rest of the world. It's amazing some people think the whole world revolves around the US president. The West seems more united than we have seen in a long time. It is true what Gates say about the need to be careful how this is handled.
