There's no such thing as a "green" McMansion..it's an oxymoron.
Somebody should tell Al Gore.

2 years old? It's funny how defensive people get here. Unfortunately green technology is in the model T stage of development right now. I support efficient technology obviously but it just isn't there yet.

No, there is not any solar panels that will work that will return ROI in 4 years and much of the technology simply isn't well developed yet.

Many things go into how things work. Maybe someone's house has a lot of obstruction to the sun so solar is never going to be efficient for them for the forseeable future unless we want to start cutting down large swaths of tree's or to take down the neighbors second floor.

Is it possible that my low flow doesn't work as well as other because my house is 70 years old as opposed to new construction? Of course it could play a role.

But just ignore the actual realities of life today and make stupid comments if it makes you feel better. Newer more efficient technology is a good thing, I mean I'm glad we no longer have to pay someone to fill the street lamps with oil today but in our less than perfect world the extreme positions taken by many are stupid. Should we install and design better technology into new construction? Absolutely. Do we still need the old technology for years to come? Yes we will.

How to build a green building without really trying (or caring about the planet).

In a high-end Mumbai neighborhood, Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani's personal high-rise, named Antilia, is under construction. When completed, the 24-story Ambani family home will include its own health club, terraced sky-gardens, and 50-seat screening room (the reclusive Ambani is reputed to be a huge Bollywood fan). Antilia also boasts three helipads and a 168-car garage. This may sound like transportation overkill, if not outright eco-terrorism, for a family of six. But despite its 38-to-1 car-to-person ratio, Antilia has been billed by its American architects as a "green building." And under the leading standards for green architecture, the building will likely qualify.
World has gone just insane............This is "green"........lol. This is why I laugh at "green" folks they don't even know what is going on but if it says "green" then all is well. Where is Kermit the Frog?

Your opinion doesn't trump facts.
Our energy use continues to go up even though great strides were made in efficiency.
Yes our energy use goes up yet our leader tries to destroy the coal industry which provides that energy. Well now we will have to all go "green" it appears. That means everything will just cost more. Greenies still haven't figured that out............but they are saving the world.........or so they are told.

You can build green towers, I don't see why this place would be any different. One of my favorite architects has designed buildings that are basically man made trees. Very beautiful energy efficient buildings.
