Food is being put on their trays and they are throwing it out uneaten.

But you go ahead and "feel good" about the program.

That's quite limiting.
DAMN the parental responsibility!

1 descent meal a day will help....however, if the PARENTS don't care when they get home and shove Doritos and what ever else they can at them....that negates everything....

ETA....remember a 2 liter coke is .99 cents vs a bottle of bottled water for $1.99....

Yep, so more laws...or....I know this will be hard for some to realize, but how about becoming a PARENT to your child....if not, don't have them until you can take care of them...

Give it up.

People seem to think it's the government's job to raise the children now.
Parents are there to cloth them and provide shelter only.

Listen, I agree with your last statement, but first of it's too late since the kids are already here and someone has to take care of them before they turn fat, and second not every parent understands what his responsibilities are. Again, what's your problem with healthy lunches?

What is it you don't understand, or are you being deliberately obtuse?

I agree with someone who said upthread that for all that many conservatives, and more than a few liberals as well, want to restrict what adults can buy with foodstamps, in some cases very draconianly to dried beans, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, etc, they want the school lunch program to serve any old crap.

The RW has made a mockery of the term "personal responsibility".

I've posted that I'm in school and I do lunch duty.

Yesterday it was fruit cups and oranges that got thrown out uneaten.
I'm all for healthy foods but the kids don't get to choose if they don't want it.
One or the other is put on their tray regardless.

Aparently American parents are doing a horrible job raising these kids as so many of them are obese and so many believe that a soda and a bag of chips is a decent lunch. Someone has to step in and it won't be the king of England.
