Well, Jimmy Fallon just had a field day with it.

News, Dan Quayle moment? Obama flubs spelling of 'respect'

Could a White House spell-off be in the works between President Obama and former Vice President Dan Quayle?

In a throwback to the latter's infamous misspelling of the word "potato," Obama accidentally misspelled "respect" while introducing singer Aretha Franklin during a tribute to "Women of Soul" at the White House Thursday.

Dan Quayle is an educated man who read an inaccurate flash card. He too questioned it as he wrote it. He just went with it.

Maybe they all should stop depending on others to write for them, or at least have things proof read.
True, but much of politics is really much a do about nothing.

That doesn't mean that it isn't important.

It us simply the nature of the beast.

I disagree with Obama on most Issues, I think the man is an unapologetic liar, but he is the President. He has bigger problems than spelling. I agree that he should have nailed respect. It is an easy enough word, but I would prefer he focused on things that really matter.
The guy tanks on enough valid things to fault him for. This is exactly why Romney got his azz handed to him. Making big issues out of non-issues and embellishing on the facts.
I generally agree with you, spelling and grammar mistakes here and there are insignificant.

But you are missing the point.

The point is Obama supporters once again show no principles.

Bush is an idiot for flubs, Obama is human for equal flubs. Obama supporters don't care that he really is Bush on so many levels.

Others like yourself weren't calling it petty when liberals and the press regularly attacked Dan Quayle and GW Bush for their gaffs. What makes it worse is these same groups are now defending Obama for this and all the other gaffs he's made.

The real story isn't that he flubbed, it's how liberals and the news media (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, & newspapers like the NYT) are treating his flub compared to how they treat politically conservative politicians' flubs.

He reminds me of Homer Simpson when he accidently sets his house on fire and is saying " I am so smart, I am so smart. S..M..R..T. I mean, S..M..A..R..T. He isn't called " D'Obama!" for nothing, it seems.
To be fair, the teleprompter probably was to blame. They can only say what they read.
