Indeed. Yet the mindless dullards of the far right still accuse them of being secret socialists and communists (they don't know the difference) on a daily basis. If they met a real socialist from the UK, Germany, Norway, or Sweden they might finally get a clue as to how far right the Democrats really are.
The liberal crusade in recent years has turned America into one of the most liberal nations on Earth, even more than Europe. In many ways we are more liberal than Europe.
No European country welcomes illegal immigration as we do. Most are extremely hard on illegal aliens. Immigration laws are enforced strictly and things like the illegal alien Dream Act and illegal alien amnesty will never be discussed anywhere in Europe let alone Asian nations. Also in France, Germany, and Italy its actually harder to get an abortion than in most of the US. Many European countries also only recognzize gay civil unions without adoption rights while Obama is pushing gay marriage across America even in states where people don't want it.

Much of what you wrote is true and I'm in agreement, largely, with the exception of your three examples serving no purpose. While I understand (and I'm guessing you don't) why conservatives hate the EPA and call for it to be removed, I only know this agency should be strengthened, not weakened. We are killing this planet in search of profits, and when its dead, there is not another place you can move to where you can tout how great it is there. This is your one and only choice. There may be room for improvement in the others, but that's all a separate argument.

The EPA should not be removed, but it should be put in check. Ranking members of the EPA have been caught falsifying evidence in order to deny permits. This practice is never acceptable. The bigger the bureaucracy the greater the need to justify their own existence and the greater the waste. Look no further than the military and my point is proven. The EPA, Dept of Energy and Dept of education are also great examples of Dept loaded with waste. Spending more doesn't equal better quality and at some point the pay out is dwarfed by the waste.
A country with death sentencing and life incarcerations
(Other developed nations take a rehabilitative approach rather than punitive, with the goal of sentencing to protect the public and deter crime, not to 'get even'.)
A country that doesn't value healthcare as a public necessity, but rather something you buy at a grocery store
A country that apportions the most money not to the advancement of science and global diplomacy and empowerment of the people to create new things, but rather into missiles and arms and military fleet and military might.
The only developed country that equates religion/spirituality with tax breaks for the wealthy and engaging in overseas wars and praying for victory. As even classic novelist Mark Twain condoned this logic
A country with an artificial democracy with only 2 viable political parties to choose from, rather than a multi-party system with proportional representation. This results in lots of collusion between the 2 political parties, resulting in a dynasty almost.
The Bush years, the Clinton years, now Hilary Clinton to run for president or Chelsea Clinton
And the cost of financing a campaign to run for office is a multi-million dollar task that limits the franchise to very wealthy people or otherwise charismatic puppet speakers who have superb people skills and their true ideals ....

A country where you can stand outside in public and shoot if you feel threatened for any reason "called stand your ground"
A country that sees waterboarding as not a form of torture
I can go on and on and love the US but there is a rightwing faction to this nation unmatched by any other nation in the G20
And it becomes obvious when a system of even "slightly" reforming healthcare to increase access to those without it, is equated with "Nanny state socialism"
