I'm getting REAL tired of the name calling here. I know there will always be a divide in certain beliefs of conservatives and liberals, but, if we can unite ourselves in the pursuit of freedom, justice, liberty, and prosperity, we can get something done. That, of course, involves sitting down and looking at logical statements.

For instance, gay marriage. One way to give freedom to everyone is to abolish the system of marriage and make things such as benefits and inheritances left to legal wills between concerned parties. That way, a private institution such as a church can still host their ceremony between a man and a woman, and a man can give hospital visitation rights to another man he treats as family. Tax laws will have to be rewritten, but, so what? The tax code should be rewritten anyways.

People say that a system like this will lead to polygamy, relations between a person and an animal, so what? As far as I am concerned, an animal cannot consent, certain people already have relations with multiple people, and we are talking about legal wills between CONSENTING ADULTS AND CONCERNED PARTIES. If there is a want for a termination of a legal will, then people will go through a process not at all different from divorce.

Comparatively speaking, this is a good forum.

You can only control political talk by having moderators strictly control discussions. They have that out there but it becomes too stilted.

Sensitive people should just stay out of political discussions. Also religious discussions.
