On occasion, I have seen 1 or 2 in a restaurant and Metro for the visually impaired and yes, you could definitely tell in that regard.

It is harder to tell when a service dog is being utilized in anything other than for the visually impaired but
I'd rather take them at their word for it - that they needed the service dog.

Odd, I saw one in the Apple store this past weekend. That's a 1st for me - Apple store?
Think it was a Bulldog of sorts. Didn't even notice whether there was a 'service vest' on the dog, kinda thinking not - unless it was the kind that more or less blended in. Just thought it was odd considering we weren't in a pet store or a warehouse where I most often see them of that size. The ones without a service vest that is.

There's no way the # of dogs I see in inappropriate public spaces are all service dogs. No way. Businesses are just afraid of being sued.

If they all ARE all emotional support dogs, we should be very concerned about our society.

I would say it's pretty obvious that prior to the extensive use of service dogs people were confined to their homes or some type of convalescent facility. Would that be preferable to your delicate sensibilities?

Just like they used to do with smoking, they could have sections for those with service animals and without.

The dogs coukd help the busboys and dishwashers by eating scraps and licking the plates clean.

I have such a service dog at my home.

He's strictly off the books, though.

People with self-diagnosed so-called stress issues were confined to a facility? Uhhh, no. The mess started when service animals were allowed for emotional support and without a requirement for a permit (I can't ask to see one) or diagnosis.

The little rat dogs I see yipping their way through Home Depot, restaurants, Target, airports, wherever aren't service dogs, bank on it. They're not well behaved enough to be...they don't act trained at all.
