My comments were based upon the OP's synopsis of
"it wasnt so bad"..
He never stated anything like that..
Some slaves stayed with their former owners after they were freed, and we still have left wing kooks all pretending they knew whats better for people hundreds of years later
I note you didnt address my question about people being stuck in poverty? Why not? Because it proves how asinine your replies are?
Brown said that slave owners were mostly good to their slaves
Do you agree with that statement, yes or no, simple question.

Brown equates government spending to causing poverty, something you refuse to address.. You can pick out a few words of the statement and pretend its what he was talking about, but that would make you dishonest.
Treatment of them, depended on regions in which they lived.

Still refusing to answer the question with a straight answer.

I'm done with this thread, what's the point.
Whats wrong, you dont want someone pointing out how dishonest you are in not addressing his total point that government creates poverty and perpetuates it?
Yea, he did not say it wasn't so bad....no where in his post does it say that.
He did however say" they took good care of their slaves and livestock".
Rather than offending, is it possible his intent was to appeal to a segment of the population that has similar perceptions? Or, is he just another politician, regardless of party, who can't think before posting or opening his mouth?

Despite the good old days of the 50's, about 20% of the population lived in dire poverty.
55+ years later, the numbers have barely changed, but the definition of poverty has.

yes, only now we're spending $1T a year to continue the cycle, have upwards of $100T in unfunded liabilities, and moving the goalpost of the middle class downward every single day..
"took pretty good care of their slaves AND LIVESTOCK" ? Slaves WERE CONSIDERED livestock. "Were kept in slavery through LACK OF EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITY"? No, kept in slavery with chains, whips, bloodhounds and fugitive slave laws.
Further, anti-poverty programs are not entitlements, and, according to at least some economists (Paul Krugman for example) have lowered to poverty rate. We all pay for entitlements like Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid through our taxes, which is why we are all entitles to their benefits.

Historically many of the Plantations and farms were driven on slave labor. Indeed many of these owners viewed slaves as a valuable asset that made them money. many were treated very well except the few, bad owners.
Thank God this no longer is practiced in America!
