If the limit was raised to the equivalent of $50K a year the policy institute estimated that about 10 million workers would be affected by this change.
I'm not sure where people are getting that it will be 50K a year. Over 75% of US employees earn less than 50K, it's highly unlikely to be anywhere near that high. This just calls for looking into increasing the minimum from the current 24K/yr. I doubt it will go up more than a few thousand, it will most likely stay under 30K/yr.
I used to work in HR, a teacher will always meet the work activity standards to be exempt from overtime, but if any teacher fell below the income minimum it would affect them. Being exempt from overtime has nothing to do with being white collar, plenty of white collar jobs are non exempt, and blue collar jobs are exempt. It's more about having the ability to self direct your work product.

Funny how only when a Democrat is in the oval is the executive branch supposed to be completely powerless and have to go to congress for everything, including things the law specifically gives the executive branch control over. It's as if they're completely unaware that congress doesn't always spell out everything but leaves it up to the executive branch to make rules and implement the law within the legal framework passed by congress. But you can be sure that as soon as there's a Republican in the White House again, all this fake outrage about government operating normally and the executive not being completely impotent will disappear.
For example after college I took a job managing a group home. I got a salary of only 26000 dollars a year but I worked an average of 60 hours per week.

50K would be if it kept up with inflation from when the law first passed. I agree that it won't be nearly that much, if the regulations are even changed in the first place (the EO didn't even do that, despite the OP's hysteria).
Heck of a lot better than the $155 it was before.
And that was $155 since 1975.
Both $455 and $155 were unacceptable. This should have been indexed to COL changes long ago, and raised to truly reflect solely primarily managerial positions. Not to allow mom and pops to underpay glorified stockboys who fill out a schedule 2% of their working week.
Bob:"Now move it up automatically with all minimum wage changes." Mircea: Wow, you're really in a hurry to get to 3rd World status.
Amused..."
Nonsense. If deliberate misclassification is sutaining any business, we would be better off expediting the demise of that business. It is a drain on our resources. Having the rate in sync with menial, hourly jobs is proof of an attempt to misclassify. I agree Obama shouldn't be the one fixing it-this should have been fixed-with a tremendous tightening of exempt requirements-decades ago.
Exempt should be the exception, not the rule.
