it has nothing to do with your hurt feelings, it's a phytosanitary precaution.
I suppose I should have used the sarcasm smilie instead, as most would have been more than aware the only bananas or oranges we have up here would have either originated or passed through the U.S. in any case, thereby making confiscation upon re-entering the U.S. a rather moot point.
Phytosanitary precaution my azz! You didn't require over 12 million Mexicans swimming across the Rio Grande to walk through a spray booth did you?

I suppose I should have differentiated more explicitly for some unable to grasp the less obvious, the conundrum of an administration that focuses attention of phytosanitary regulations of agriculture products by confiscating an orange at a border but otherwise ignores the danger of what you refer to as "livestock" coming across the border to mow your grass cheaply carrying whatever pathogens with them.
Most assuredly not YOUR public education. Try to keep up.

bananas aren't grown in the USA, nor would they go thru US inspection en route to canuckland. scads of other countries grow oranges, all of which can export to canada.

Look there's another one! You need further explanation after two additional posts explaining my comparison between two dissimilar cross border issues but both being a threat to your health and welfare?
Read my freak'n post and try to glean what I'm saying about the oxymoronic obsession over fruit while ignoring the very real threat of PATHOGENIC threat from actual people you encourage to enter illegally.
I'm getting tired of you guys not seeing the forest while focusing on the damn fruit trees.

Crops are more important than people's health.
What's the first thing that happens when someone gets sick?
They go out and buy an orange!
It's got vitamin C!
Malathion, too!
