This is probably not the best time to have someone like Obama in charge with Kerry as his diplomatic second, and a budget wonk in charge of Defense.

The real question is whether we would reciprocate. Or at least threaten to.

??????????:smac k:

Obama, had he had his head out of his ass, COULD HAVE defused the whole situation. How?

1. When trouble arose in Ukraine, arranged a meeting with fellow NATO members

2. Agreed to recognize the new Ukranian government after the president left

3. Made the Ukraine an immediate NATO member

4. #3 would have prevented even the incursion into Crimea, as an attack on a NATO member is an attack to all. Putin would not have risked that.

5. Move NATO troops from Germany into the Ukraine with prolonged "military exercises"

6. Move a few nuclear missile batteries into the Ukraine from Germany

7. Assist the Ukraine in regaining its nuclear arms which we demanded be removed

Checkmate- no conflict. This is what we would expect of a strong leader, not an imbecile who reacts to other nations actions. This is the sign of a very poor "chess player".

Russia is right, they could reduce our country to radioactive ash. Then again, we also possess the capability to return the favor. IMO they are doing nothing but talking s***! Putin is a nut, but he isn't that crazy!
