President Barack Obama is quickly discovering that getting his nominees confirmed is no simple matter, even with the Senate’s filibuster gutted and Republicans sidelined.
Quote:
Democratic Senate aides estimated on Monday that from eight to 10 Democrats may oppose Murthy’s nomination if the vote were to be held soon, mostly because of his left-leaning views on gun policy, which have attracted opposition from the National Rifle Association. An aide closely following the nomination described a vote for Murthy as carrying “very little political or policy gain but plenty of downside.”
The Democrats' Civil War is heating up. A lot of these Democrats are realizing, after six years, that being a rubber stamp for a far left agenda isn't in their best political interests. I doubt it will be enough to save them in November. They deserve to be fired notwithstanding their supposed moderation in the 11th hour before the voters go to the polls.
This is just further proof that gun rights are not a one party issue. The democrats in red/purple states know who butters their bread.
Gun owners vote more than any other group. Politicians worry about those who actually show up at the polls.
