Add to that the clusterfluck that has been American foreign policy from Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan and why in the world would the Russians even care what the USA thinks about this situation let alone allow American opinions dictate Russian foreign policy. Well, I'm telling you it's not Obama who lacks anything it's the USA who has lost it's leadership in the world through the bungling idiocy of Imperial policy in a post Imperial world. Get used to it. It will only get worse from here on in or until the USA reforms it's relationships with the rest of the world entirely.
Learn your history.

That was the UN. Not NATO.

So what should Obama be doing regarding the situation in the Ukraine? Serious, practical suggestions.

NATO and Ukraine. Poland has moved armaments to it's southern border. The US has added six F-15's to the NATO Baltic Patrol. Sweden (not in NATO) has moved fighter jets to its island closest to Russia....

The EU and US are moving in lockstep in their response, NATO is preparing in the rare chance there is a threat to Poland or another member, but yet Obama's response is "weak?"

We've lost this round. Get ready for expected moves in the Baltic states.

What did Bush do when Putin punked him in Georgia? He went to the Olympics and got drunk.

Why are you so condescending?

Six F-15s are a pitiful purely symbolic move. Put A-10s in Poland and bring armor back to Europe. It'll be costly, but if we don't want to give Europe over to the Russians we'll have to pay the price. I don't think we will though. I think Obama will fail to act.

Why do you assume the Russians wish to take over Europe?

If they did, they could be dancing on their tanks in Kiev as we speak.

The utter complete ignorance of so many Americans where world politics are concerned is so very sad. Obviously the Obama-haters would far rather have had McCain and Palin holding the reins and continuing on W's "shock and awe" tactics. Since Ms Palin can apparently see Russia from her porch she would no doubt have already requisitioned a stockpile of missiles in her garden shed for the sheer joy of pushing the buttons herself ...

It`s quite appropriate to talk about Bush and his reaction to Putin in Georgia. This isn`t the old Soviet Union where we scrub our embarrassments from the history books.
