Isn't that on the same basis to how we got the loser we have now? Popularity contest, who can talk the best line and can sway the uninformed the easiest.
The better question is, would you rather live in Russia or the USA?
If Russia continues its path with Putin and USA continues the path that Obama has set, Russia will become more and more desirable compared to the USA.
When I lived in Moscow, Medvedev was running the show and he was much stronger leader than Obama even though he was still basically doing Putin's bidding.
