Protect from what? A 17 yo penis? The only facts here are as follows:
17 yo guy gets invited by a 16 yo girl to her bedroom for an overnight stay
17 yo is armed only with his penis.
16 yo girl's father enters said bedroom and shots the unarmed 17 yo in the head.
Everything else is solely based on father and daughter testimony and given the circumstances I have no reason to believe any of them. It's murder. All the sob stories about daughters denying she knew the 17 yo lying in her bed or the 17yo boy who "suddenly reached for something" are the typical excuses for murder disguised as self-defence.
Hopefully, the street justice that doesn't deal with BS and legalese, will prevail. Eye for an eye. You shot my unarmed, most likely naked at the time son, so I see no reason to give you a chance to defend yourself, either. Be prepared.
Apparently you're having a hard time with the fact that the daughter nor the boy did not have permission from the parents for him to be there, thus the sneaking around! The proper etiquette is to ask for permission.
To your second point. Actions have consequences. Some can be deadly. I know that in the leftist bizzaro world that everything is free of consequences, where there is no accountability, no common sense, and that it's everyone elses fault. In the real world the fact is that bad s*** happens, especially when you're out at 2AM. That can go for adults as well. I worked in the bar industry on weekends for many years, so trust me I'm well aware.
Finally your last statement makes you a damn hypocrite! You're OK with the kid sneaking into someone elses house, with the homeowner not knowing if he is a threat or not and defends his home, and then when he does so, you have the audacity to cry revenge because of his stupidity for doing it in the first place! Well, your "street justice" could also backfire. Because now the guy is going to be even more leery, and on the defense! Perhaps, the kids parents should have kept better tabs on his whereabouts at 2AM!

The father didn't know any of that at the time, based on the info he had he was dealing with an intruder that the daughter didn't know.
