Chamomile here. It's a tonic and it's said to calm the warmongering effects of the media.

Light entertainment.

Turn on the news if you are really serious about it. Don't take what they say too seriously though. They don't have a clue either.

We have several new posters that have just joined C-D ..... they appear to be Russian or at least very Pro-Russia from their threads.

That's good. Cross talk between cultures fosters understanding.

The Mongols may come out of the steppes and take over Eastern Europe.

I saw a Russian movie called 'Mongol' and it's obvious they are preparing something.

Is this a battle of good vs. evil?

We expected Russia to surrender all her territories, which she never did in WWII. Of course, they should embrace democracy and progress instead of Nazism.

I'm telling you, the Russians are weird.

The least informed poster of the month award is yours:
1. Russia doesn't have a better track record than the US
2. America doesn't reject European civilization
3. Nobody wants Russia in the EU.

We think Europe is socialist and the French are lazy bums.

I bet they all could have a better standard of living in, say, 20 years. NATO is old mentality, cold war mentality. Europe is freedom and outdoor cafes.

Well, to be fair, Europe and America are on edge because they're not sure Putin doesn't intend to take back Poland, Estonia and Latvia. There's a nervous twitch in the EU and NATO right now, thinking that Putin want's to restore the Soviet to it's former glory. He could be monomaniacal. We have to protect against Russian expansion in the area just as much as he's protecting against european expansion in Ukraine.
In the end, Russia needs Crimea. EU doesn't need Ukraine. If you dig deep, you'll find they don't even want it. Ukraine is Greece financial falures on steroids. Not wise to hitch the Euro to the Ukraine star.

1- Give example, please.
2- Really? It could benefit quite a bit from having universal healthcare and it could take an overhaul in the transportation area. A few bullet trains here and there would help. Walkable communities would be a plus.
3- Maybe they never thought about it. Or maybe it's good old fashioned racism. Hitler thought very low of the Russians.

1. Maybe you give an example first where Russia has a better track record than the US?
2. So all there is to European culture are trains, universal healthcare and walkable neighborhoods?
What about the European language spoken in the US, or an European legal system adopted here or finally an old European concept like democracy being a foundation of the US?
3. Or maybe they don't see Russia as worse but simply not compatible with EU
