All this started because the Ukraine voted to go with Russia over the IMF.
And the IMF/EU/USA didn't like that..hence the coup and the crisis in Crimea.
It's political chess folks. The US has no business butting in although we already did via USAID and NED funding the coup.
It sounds like "business as usual."
This is not small game though. Making Russia a pariah state will have a price. Or they expect Russia to surrender when North Korea and Iran have not?
Not very smart players on the Western side of the game.
Putin is looking to rebuild the Soviet Union.
China will follow suit and go after Taiwan.
North Korea will annex South Korea.
While the world is in play, Barack Obama is working on his "March Madness" basketball brackets, binge watching "House of Cards", and planning a vacation for Michelle and the kids.
Don't worry, we can still destroy the world if we don't like it!
That's because you don't understand Eastern Europeans, or Slavs for that matter.
I like how all you people suddenly show up when there's a "crisis."
Is Ukraine a sovereign State?
Because if it is, you know, a sovereign State, then US actions interfering in the domestic political, social and economic affairs of Ukraine are illegal.

That's a fallacy.....the US never invites international observers during voting in US slave States.

So, you willingly invite action that will ultimately lead to financial damage to your economy, and the destruction of your way of life....that's brilliant.

Excuse me, but who were the dumbasses that abandoned the Gold Standard in lieu of the Petro-Dollar, in order to cause economic damage to the Soviet Union?
What goes around comes around.

This has absolutely nothing to do with warm-water ports....or navies for that matter.

Well, you know, it's not like US tax-payers didn't spend $Billions training and equipping the ROK Army to fight.
I can see why none of you could ever win a simple game of checkers.

Oh, no, no, Taiwan's independence is something dying for.
China has no business whatsoever in Taiwan. They have a better quality of life and universal healthcare. China forces every nation to cut ties with Taiwan, given them validity in their outlandish claims.
1. Just because a country is falling apart and has ousted its leader does not give a neighboring country the right to annex a portion of that said country even if the people of that region voted for it.
That fails miserably.
The US has used the "country is falling apart" card to engage in numerous military actions.

Says who?
The referendum in Kosovo was legal?
The really bizarre thing is that for someone who is soooo 1970s, you conveniently ignored the Carter Doctrine.
Remember?
Carter said the US had the right to take preemptive military action in the Persian Gulf Region for reasons of national security.
That doctrine was drafted by Social-Democrats-turned-Neo-Conservatives Gary Sick and Zbigniew Brzezinski, who were on Carter's White House Staff.
For all you know, Russia may have a similar doctrine concerning the Black Sea Region.
I mention that, because your position makes you appear hypocritical.
Nope. The Russian actions recently are and were illegal. The Ukraine is entirely in their rights to cry foul. If Russia truly wanted to help the Crimea transition to being part of Russia in a democratic, peaceful fashion, they would have invited international observation of the voting process, encouraged debate and discussion within all groups of the Crimea, and made the whole process stretch out more transparently over a more reasonable period of time. It looks like what it was...an empire-building land-grab by Putin.
I don't believe war is necessarily the answer, but sanctions...diplomatic and economic...which hurt Putin and his wealthy buddies, are appropriate.
At the very least, they would have offered a "no" option on the ballot.
