But if it is interrupting something going on in class or the teacher then it is a distraction. You go to school to get an education , not listen to Telemundo nonsense. When i was in school, you would get yelled at or get detention for being rude.

The Principal is a dumbass is how she handled this issue and so is the School District for firing her as well as the parents of kids that dont force them to learn assimilate which is what this whole issue is really about.
All of the people that want others to stop speaking a language they learned in childhood are just as dumbassed as the rest.

I respect it, I speak it fluently, and it's my second language. I use Spanish whenever I feel like, in public or not. If I am speaking to someone else in Spanish with no others involved in the conversation, I am NOT talking to you.

No idea, I'm a liberal and I think it's a shame the principal is being fired for requiring students to speak English at school.
It's a school, they are all there to learn in English, allowing half the school to speak in a different language is a break down in the purpose and function of the school.
Have people ever been in a foreign language class, like French, where the teacher demands all conversations be carried on in French?
