The police and my township are in the midst of negotiating a new contract and the police union is trying to block a condition that subjects all officers to submit to random drug tests. Currently they only have to submit to a pre-employment drug test, unless the court orders one while on the job.
Police here make low six figures in a town that has not had a murder in 15 years. I cannot understand how this would be a major sticking point.
