Why? It's just a young guy talking about issues in a short ad. Who cares how he looks?

Whereas plenty of millenials are libertarian and there is some crossover to republican there, it's not inconceivable that this demographic could ever vote republican. Watch The Independents sometime. You can clearly see some conservative values in young libertarians.

They were trying to catch the hipster demographic...that doesn't act like that or care about those issues. So they were totally off base......

And the video was poorly acted, the character didn't even believe what he was saying.

I am a little too old and too "ethnic" to be a hipster, but I know plenty and live near plenty. That ad was way off base.

The GOP keeps hitting the wrong notes when trying to diversify their base. They really should talk to actual young people and get a focus group. I know plenty of people who would be Republicans, at least in terms of government structure. But the GOP loses them when tackling the social issues in the wrong way and alienates the young people.. If they want to appeal to the social moderate and the fiscally conservative they need to do more than have ads with "hipsters."

Way off. Hipsters and millennials care much more about public transit than cars. The GOP has fought public transit at every opportunity at both the federal and state levels.

I think they are both libertarian and progressive. Both are fringe to their perspective party. Ron Paul and his Rand Paul are big names in politics to hipsters.

Most "ultra hipsters" are super liberal. For example, most "hipster neighborhoods tend to vote VERY far to the left. Also, even in the Paul's home state, Austin is known for being "a dot of blue" and very Hipster. For that matter, look at most "hipster" cities, NYC (especially Brooklyn), Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, DC, Austin, Seattle, etc). What is one thing they all have in common? They are ultra LEFT!

Thanks for the info folks. To me, the guy in the ad looked a lot like David Lynch in Eraserhead, which I suppose could be an inspiration for current hipsters. I'm also discombobulated because to me, hipsters are beatniks. Just call me culturally confused...

We already HAVE "all of the above" policy. Mr. Hipster failed to mention he is for all that as long it isn't near HIS neighborhood.

Wonder how he would feel about his city putting up Wind Turbines to power all the street lights and traffic lights in each area with them scattered around town.

His city building a trash to energy recycling plant down the street from his house.
