Matt Drudge has! That's what he's calling the no-insurance penalty under the ACA. Earlier today he tweeted, "Just paid the Obamacare penalty for 'not getting covered'... I"M CALLING IT A LIBERTY TAX!"
But here's the thing: No one actually has to pay any penalty yet. The soonest any individual will actually have to pay it is in 2015.
Then, when called out on this lie, he doubled down by insisting that because he files quarterly, he DID have to pay it this quarter.
But that too is a lie, since -- as we all know -- the employer mandate doesn't go into effect until 2016 or 2017. That is, unless he actually does have more than 100 employees, which seems rather unlikely for a news-aggregating website.
I wonder what Drudge hopes to gain from spreading these lies.
Hello? Maybe he's self-insured. Lots of high income people are. They're not affected by Nannycare.
That's right, they aren't. Which means they don't have to pay the penalty.
So why (if he actually is self-insured and not just making stuff up) is Drudge boasting about having paid it? Of course if he wants to make a big charitable donation to the IRS, that's his business, but it seems like an odd thing for a conservative to do.

Oh yes they are. Their insurance premiums went UP!
