Just as today in Jesus's time government was wealthy and the people were poor because government taxes.
When Jesus was asked to support redistribution of wealth – to tell one brother to share the family inheritance with the other – Jesus refused. Jesus would never support government or a church stealing property by force to give it to a stranger. He would not even intervene for one man to share his own family’s wealth with his own brother.
41 He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. 43 Then he called his disciples and said to them, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44 For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."
So Jesus opposed an unfair contribution to the treasury..
Thats not socialist, nor even close to a justification to what the left wants to do with this country. You stand here and whine that the rich arent paying their "fair share", but then justify others not paying a DIME..
As rich as John Kerry is he didn't want to pay the taxes on his yacht. They don't want to pay taxes . They play a part as if they care yet they want to take everyone else's money , including the middleclass and the working poor.
Another liberal who spoke at the DNC and condoned higher taxes. Jim Senegal, founder of Costco who board of directors gave a special dividend before the end of 2012 to avoid paying Obamas higher taxes. Yet he supports raising taxes on small business owners and doctors making $200k before taxes.
Liberal rich -> raise taxes on the other guy but not me.
Bill Gates gives money away because he has so much already, he doesn't need it and just has to get rid of it. Not exactly charity. Equivalent to skimming excess fat off the top of a burger.

The poor actually give a higher percentage of their income to charity than the wealthy do.
Quote:
The wealthiest Americans donate 1.3 percent of their income; the poorest, 3.2 percent. What's up with that?
Quote:
One of the most surprising, and perhaps confounding, facts of charity in America is that the people who can least afford to give are the ones who donate the greatest percentage of their income. In 2011, the wealthiest Americans—those with earnings in the top 20 percent—contributed on average 1.3 percent of their income to charity. By comparison, Americans at the base of the income pyramid—those in the bottom 20 percent—donated 3.2 percent of their income.

I didn't ask why Bill Gates gives money to charity (besides, you are presuming to read Bill Gates mind), I asked if you can name one Republican who came close to giving away one half of their income.
Im not talking about Republicans. I am talking about Liberals. If most liberals believed the crap they spewed, there'd be no very wealthy liberals. They would all be backing up what they say by giving their wealth to others.
But that is a very rare occurrence. Because they dont believe in what they say, except in the sense that they think its the governments job to be in charge of it.
I really want to see the wealthy talking heads and Hollywood hypocrites who are liberal, show how much they really care for the unfortunate and poor by giving not just half of their wealth away...most of it. Give it to the government, the poor.
And you can cite Bill Gates. Thats one example. But the fact is, he still is extremely wealthy. What exactly is stopping him or the Google founders from going back down to near middle class? You know, all for the sake of the poor and others who "we hold back due to racism, etc, etc"....
oh please. Which would I rather see, contributions from a rich liberal or a poor liberal? You are the fools then, while they run around in diamonds and wearing Hermes bags.

What percent of your income do you give to charity?

If you really care to know, you can search google. That wasn't the point of the thread. I dont seem to recall mentioning Republican wealth in the OP, because that is not the point.
