FOX would love nothing more than a Putin running America, and the sad fact is that many conservatives/wingnuts/Teabaggers would love someone like Putin running this country as well.
Considering that conservatives have a larger fear center and like someone telling them how to think and act, someone like Putin is extremely appealing to them. They would willingly sacrifice civil rights and freedom of expression to feel "safe"
Most importantly to the far right- Putin wants to eradicate the gay population.

Any elected officials? I'm not sure if there have been any, but there have been plenty of conservative voice boxes who have expressed feelings that the US should have laws modeled after the ones passed in Russia.
