For every incident like this you have millions of police officers nation wide doing their duty on a daily basis without much incident.

As for combat veterans becoming cops that's not exactly unheard of and pretty common throughout history.

If he turned around, it COULD have been to pull a weapon. I cannot say for sure, i wasn't there, and cannot see the video from the computer I am currently using.

Good to see some coverage of the issue and yes, its good to see citizens up in arms about it. Some literally. Hopefully there's more protests and outrage over Police misconduct, abuse of power, and downright malice.

I just read about it, it says that the APD has shot more people than the NYPD since 2010. Maybe they are rather trigger happy down there...

Interesting statement there "over-militarized approach to law enforcement"...

What is also strange is that when a potentially dangerous animal escapes and misbehaves they usually shoot it with a tranquilizer gun, but with humans they use deadly force. How weird is that...

Reading the article and seeing everything unfold just makes me more outraged at what we've allowed our Police to become in this country. They are NOT supposed to be above the law and definitely not above prosecution.

We need to take back control of our departments locally. Especially when we have an overreaching government that is not doing its duty in protecting us from their abuses.

I wouldn't be surprised, given that the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence and the Brady Campaign give NM a F, and NM is one of the top 10 states with the highest gun death rate. If the citizenry is more violent, why wouldn't the police be more violent? NM's murder rate is 20% above the national median, and NM is 9th in overall crime rate. "Sow what you reap"... anyone?

As long as the police are not held accountable things like this will continue. We have too many people who support this type of behavior. The sick mentality that someone who argues with the police deserves to be shot.

+2 on this.... There is nothing being done , no consequences , so yes it will keep happening more and more. Police are getting used to the " its okay to kill, then ask questions later " whole approach in law enforcement.

They work in fear and panic, if thats the case dont be a cop.

Meanwhile, the DOJ has assigned a gunslinger US attorney to investigate a lane closure in NJ within 24 hours of Chris Christies press conference.

Priorities!
