You don't know how to use Google? Look it up.

Classified information? So where were you geniuses when the NYT leaked the Pentagon Papers, all the Iraq war documents under GWB or recently the NSA employees name? Were you thinking critically then? Were you pompously lecturing your friends the NYT has no right to leak classified information? I doubt it.

Common knowledge? Really? Is that why a bunch of liberal journalists got together and declared Obama the greatest enemy of the press? Forget common knowledge, you folks need some common sense.

You are just proving my point, the Bush administration is the reasons this man is being made to testify in court, not the Obama Administration. The investigation against him and Jeff Sterling started in 2007. He is just pissed because the Obama administration didnt drop it.

This isn't a partisan issue. It's much bigger than partisanship. The Press, the 4th Estate, has an important role to play in keeping our government, all three branches, transparent. The government has an interest in keeping some things behind closed doors. And so the relationship between the Press and the Government is very much an adversarial relationship. They are natural enemies.

National security in our country has shifted. Once, national security focused on the enemies outside our borders. But an ambitious senator in the 1950's changed all that. He conducted an over-the-top campaign to identify an internal threat, and it changed the way Americans think. And it was very successful politically for the senator. And it's a very successful political strategy today, to convince Americans that their neighbors, friends, co-workers are somehow subversive enemies, anti-patriots. And the result has been a steady growth of funding and resources by the government to investigate the citizens of this country. Part of those resources are expended by the government to investigate leaks within the government, and to investigate the press that releases those leaks to the public at large.

So the adversary relationship between the Press and the Government has been intensifying pretty much with each successive administration since Eisenhower. The Obama administration is only the latest administration. That, coupled with the advances in technology that allow government ever greater access to what was previously private communications and records of citizens and journalists alike, and the pace of technology that requires legislative limitations to be imposed (limitations that the legislature may not want to impose) on a constant basis, means that yes, the Obama administration is currently the greatest enemy to Freedom of the Press. Just as, when the Bush administration was in office, it was the greatest enemy. And the next administration will be, again, the greatest enemy.

Because it's not a partisan issue. It's a bigger issue. It's about how transparency in government is necessary in a democratic republic, because only an informed public can make decisions about the direction of government. It's about the role the Press plays in keeping the government at least somewhat transparent. It's about balancing security against freedom, about protecting the principles this country was founded upon.

The Obama administration has been called the greatest enemy of the press in a generation by the NEW YORK TIMES (ironic, huh?).

I wonder how many journalists at the NYT voted for Obama?

Sometimes an idiot gets what they deserve. Sadly, those calling Obama an "enemy of the press" will vote for the very same type of liberal who will do the very same thing in the next election.

The power of the press!

The press controls the entire narrative of the nation. Think about the amount of power that monopoly holds????

The press has the power to enrich lives and the power to destroy lives.
It has the power to tell the truth and the power to hide the truth.
The press is there to confuse the masses, so government chugs right along.

You must not be aware that every sitting president is considered the greatest enemy of the press. If you want I will try to remind you when we have a new sitting president and they seem that person to be the greatest threat to the press.

3. The context of this article pretty much destroys the credibility of this writer on this subject. He was subpoenaed in 2008 by the Bush Administration, not the Obama administration. He seems to be mad that the Obama administration renewed his subpoena in 2010 instead of letting him walk free, and that the courts ruled he must testify in 2013.

Let me get this straight, just for the record-

1. Obama is not a liberal?

2. The NYT is not liberal?

3. You are blaming Bush?

When you are standing far left, EVERYTHING is to the right of you.

Nothing in our history can compare to the damage this betrayal has cost.
Yes it is, especially when they have tingles over a president lol.
