I agree. It's also why it's stupid for those who take offense at those who are supposedly being offended. IMO most want nothing to do with these type of arguments.
I think that's a good point. Unfortunately, these discussions end up getting traction - often media-driven.
Didn't people start using, "homosexual" as the preferred PC term as to not offend anyone with words like, "gay".
No. Wrong.

No one's stopping you from using the word "gay" to mean "happy". Quit acting like a victim and grow a spine. Use whatever language you want. That's your right, but keep in mind: Others have the right to judge you by what you say.
meanwhile the world is about to explode and the economy is in the dumper as we fight dramatic socialist imposition by an unfriendly administration....
please post the latest list of expired words on your own kitchen wall and enjoy your diminished vocabulary....maybe look around and consider reordering your priorities
Yes, "media matters" cannot discuss the dreaded economy- God forbid anything important to the nation is discussed on these trash shows.
Sad commentary on American viewers getting "news" from corporate controlled networks.
I don't think it's the blacks and gays demanding this. It's a few high-profile people who have nothing better to do than stir up sheet.
Every native American I've ever known calls himself Indian. Every African-American I've known calls himself black (except for the Egyptian co-worker who jokingly called himself African-American).
The people these word police are trying to 'protect' don't get bent out of shape over being called Indian or black or homosexual.
Its gets old when you try to say the right term because some PR Guy wants to make a race of a life style softer. Frankly don't care.
Its African American or the Black guy or if we were 150 years ago "Negro" were all common terms. Just depends.
As any News net work or any other one for that matter. It depends on the usage. One can turn any label negative,
This is something stirred up by professional agitators. When I was a kid, it was still normal to call east Asians "oriental." People called me oriental and I referred to myself as oriental. Then one day, oriental is now an offensive word and it just has to stop. It was news to me that it was offensive. Never did I even hear it used in a derogatory way. But now if someone uses the term, they'll get slammed as a racist. It's only this way because there are people out there, like Media Matters, that make a living pretending to be offended about something. Once people stop being offended, they lose their power.

Life is tricky, isn't it?
Others as well can call their own shots on those who play the Victim Game.
