HHS, as is written in the ACA Law, has the implementation responsibility. This signup extension for those who are having difficulty completing enrollment is certainly not a big deal.
And why would anyone have any difficulty enrolling the last 60 days ? If they actually wanted to enroll they've had ample opportunity and assistance.
Or is it just the lack of desire to enroll ?
What's funny is they say it's because they are expecting a huge surge at the end of March and can't accommodate all the expected enrollments. Yeah right.
In the Hobby Lobby thread, people keep screeching, "It's the LAW! If you want to do business, you have to follow the law!"
But what law? The law as it was passed 4 years ago, the law as it was yesterday, the law as you think it will be tomorrow? This "law" changes every day.

But tens of millions wont have insurance, even after the enrollment period eventually ends. You mean its no big deal that these people can get sick and die cause they wont have insurance?
No, it hasn't been going as expected, but I see nothing wrong with extending the deadline. Requiring someone to claim that he has already tried is silly. It should just be an extension for everyone, regardless of the reason.
I don't see how the government could determine whether a person has tried or not, so the honor system is the only viable option. Silly requirement, though.
Obama will continue to extend the deadline until his initial estimate is met and then he will declare his success on the signup. Cheating and lying to achieve his goal is his typical method of operation. Along with changing the rules to meet his own agenda.

That's what they said last time, too, and they gave a guarantee that it would not be a hassle once they "had time" to fix it.
I'm telling you, C-Span can be a comedy gold mine.
Honestly, Obama should just get off his high horse. Delay the entire mandate for everyone for one year.
The government is already guaranteeing the insurance companies against losses. So it doesn't matter if only sick people sign up. The liberal media already is saying if only sick people sign up, it WON'T make a big deal on the overall insurance market.
1. The individual market is around 5%. Which means it impacts very little on the bottom line of insurance companies.
2. Treat the first year like a trial. If friends who are on the fence see their friends promoting word of mouth..."hey, you could save a lot of money (especially with subsidies)", "this law is working", "you get more overall coverage benefits than before" The more and more people hear about it, the less people will be skeptical.
3. The last reason he should delay the mandate for a year....It gives the Republicans NOTHING else. If he really wanted to protect the mid term elections and since he's made so many other exemptions for everyone else (employer mandate etc). He should delay it for at least one year
Consider the rollout a trial process. Make it mandatory in 12 months. Plain and simple. It's not rocket science. Insurers can't complain since they are guaranteed not to lose money (unless they have some secret agenda....(maybe Obama told them they could make even more money!). Republicans can't complain. This will buy him a lot of time.
He can not do that . It would be admitting Ted Cruz was right . So instead he will do it illegally in pieces
They are not changing the law, they are just tweaking it a little bit.
This time its to allow those who haven't had a chance to get near a computer or phone since Nov 1st and sign up do so. Why they didn't just delay the whole thing until the website was complete who knows ??? what a debacle !
