This is a good move and one that is completely necessary. It's a shame though because the SPLC has done some good over the years and some of it's hate group targets are legitimate racists and homophobes. Unfortunately*they changed into a militant political organization with an extremely secular far left wing idealogical agenda first and an anti-hate agenda second. Half of the groups on their '' hate group '' listings are not really hate groups at all, just people they disagree with politically.
The SPLC has lost much of it's credibility over the years. They should never have become political in the first place. Simply take a stroll through their website and you'll see far left agenda preaching everywhere. I once saw an article on their page about illegal immigration and how reporting it should be made a racist hate crime (this was during the Arizona immigration bill '' controversy'' that happened a while back) . Seriously you can't make this stuff up!
Also their founder (or guy who took over anyway) was a known child molester. Pretty sick!

They have the right to be racists, and homophobes.
Furthermore they list anyone why favors limiting legal immigration, securing the southern border, and supporting the 2nd Amendment as "extremists' we are not, we are patriots..
The Southern Poverty Lie Center has no credibility least, they came out after the Tucson shooting, Aurora shooting, Time Square bombing attempt and then tried to blame Patriots for things they had less then nothing to do with..
They are dying a slow death as more Americans are waking up to their sickness of Cultural Marxism..
How funny would it be if the Southern Poverty Lie Center listed the FBI as a terrorist group over this.
