Alaska back to Russia: Petition to secede gains 28,000 signatures on WhiteHouse.gov | syracuse.com

28,000 signatures in 5 days. Gov says it will issue a press conference if it hits 100k in 30 days. Hope it does...although, probably will fizzle out.

This could set off a welcome precedent though.

What is welcome about it? That people are so stupid and hate Obama so much that they would rather live in such a country? How about they just move there then? Nothing but a bunch of unAmerican whiners dressing up as "patriots"

Russias just mad we got such a sweet deal...2 cents/acre

You realize that most of those people going to WhiteHouse.gov and signing this petition are Russian citizens, right? They live in Russia and not Alaska so this thread is dumb.

Is Sarah Palin's husband behind this?

You don't have to be an Alaskan citizen to sign this petition, so it really doesn't amount to anything.

Alaska can go ahead and join Russia if they want. Do they seriously think they will continue to get their oil dividends if they do? No, that money will go to Moscow.

Leave, Alaska. You are a drain on the rest of the country.

BTW Alaska must pay its share of the national debt and reimburse the govt for all that federal land if it exits. Enjoy.

Actually the oil parts of the state would stay in the US. There would be no way we would give that up.

They will be lucky if they are allowed to live there when it's all said and done. I'm sure Putin isn't looking for more voters.
